About

Genre: Educational Game

Time: 10 months

Description

DataDecode invites the user to carry out a series of missions to understand the notion of data by playing, experimenting, and even programming (text generation, database, literary games, collaborative/asymmetric, data economy).

For example, the player is asked to produce an original augmented text that can potentially be shared, a text where words, images and sounds are put into action under the impulse of commands activated by the user.

Level Design
  • Creation of the exercices

  • Implementation in the engine of the exercices

  • Integration of database of words and images

Challenges

As the only game designer on the project, I had to imagine progressive activities and lessons accessible to children from 9 to 16 years old whatever their starting knowledge in digital and database. This required a lot of pedagogical work to ensure that each child could finish the game.

Quality Assurance
  • Testing of the missions and refinement

  • Animator and analysis of playtests in Exhibition demonstration and classroom tests

Game Design
  • Writing and updating the Game Design Document
  • Research and writing on the possible formulas that the players can use
  • Proposition of present words and images in the engine

Qualities
  • It is a powerful tool, you can make a lot of different exercices

  • The creations of the players is easily sharable with the others by the website

Defaults
  • I had trouble making exercices for every age of childrens. A lots of refinement and cuts have been made on the exercices.
