Description

Faux miroirs is a VR project pushed by DV mobile for the Centre Pompidou based on the Magritte exposition.
It is a game where the user can swap textures. So he can modify his space, solve puzzles or just have fun changing the scenery visually.

Level Design
  • Writing of prototype level design
  • Writing of hypothetic level design of final product
  • Implementation in Unity of level design

Challenges

I was the only game designer on this project in charge for all the game design aspect and also the redaction of documents for project funding.
I also produced a prototype of gameplay on unity to show the potential of the concept.
It was a challenge to imagine a concept that is playable by every type of users and to limitate the concept of the game to be understandable by everyone

Quality Assurance
  • Organizing sessions of playtest to validate or unvalidate gameplay and level design choises

Game Design
  • Writing the Game Design elements
  • Writing the global narration
  • Core gameplay prototype made on Unity 5
  • Visual and written story-telling implementation

  • Communicator with DV Mobile on all the gameplay aspect

  • Redaction of funding research documents

Qualities
  • The combination of visual to gameplay modification by the player action is impressive.
The players love to see how the place change when they just transfer the textures.

  • The concept is simple and can be translated to many different ways, the prototype is puzzly and gameplay oriented, whereas the final product was oriented in the visual and experimentation aspect of the concept.

Defaults
  • The gameplay prototype is difficulty usable on it's own for new players : the puzzles are not tested enough at all and difficultly understandable. A complete remake of the tutorial should be made.
