Game Design
-
Brainstorm and proposition of the pitch
- Creation of the visual puzzles after the proposition of the 3 filters by the graphic designers
- Integration in unity of the validation system
Qualities
-
The concept is easily scalable, more filters could have been added and new puzzles would be easily imagined
-
The player is constantly visually rewarded by the mechanic of filtering and how they transform the scene. I often see the testers just playing with the filters and combining them just for fun.
Defaults
-
The ingredients selection system and validation is terrible. It is impossible to cancel a choice, it is not possible to see what was chosen. I should have work on this aspect from the beginning after validating the pitch.
-
The controls to use the filters is terrible :the player needs to mash the buttons to intensify the filters but the curves of effect are too harsh and obligate the player to constantly mash the buttons while the main experience should be chill and based on contemplation and modification. A system of faders that the player can move by the mouse would have been simpler and more efficient
Challenge
As the only game designer on a project with 4 graphic designers.
I had to find a pitch following the theme of this GGJ: "waves" while using with intelligence this work capacity.
This is how the approach of a graphic puzzle game was made
Then there was the constraint of creating a non-systemic puzzle game in the short time of a Global Game Jam.
